IPL 2025: Sridharan Sriram Joins as Assistant Bowling Coach for this Team

CSK assistant bowling coach

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have bolstered their coaching lineup ahead of IPL 2025 by appointing former Indian allrounder Sridharan Sriram as their assistant bowling coach. He will work alongside head coach Stephen Fleming, batting coach Mike Hussey, and bowling consultant Eric Simons.

A Seasoned Coach with Global Experience

Sriram brings extensive coaching expertise, having worked with multiple teams across various leagues and international cricket. He effectively replaces Dwayne Bravo, who has moved to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a mentor.

Between 2016 and 2022, Sriram served as an assistant coach for the Australian cricket team before shifting focus to his role with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In August 2022, he was appointed as Bangladesh’s T20 consultant for the Asia Cup and T20 World Cup. Later, in September 2023, he took on an assistant coaching role at Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for IPL 2024 while returning to Bangladesh as a technical consultant ahead of the ODI World Cup.

Additionally, Sriram has experience coaching in the IPL, having previously worked as an assistant coach with Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals).

CSK’s Squad and Road to IPL 2025

For the upcoming season, CSK’s spin attack features R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Gopal, and Noor Ahmad, with Deepak Hooda and Rachin Ravindra providing additional spin-bowling options.

Last season, CSK narrowly missed a playoff spot, finishing fifth with seven wins and seven losses. Despite ending up with the same 14 points as fourth-placed RCB, their lower net run rate prevented them from advancing.

IPL 2025 kicks off on March 22, with defending champions KKR facing RCB in Kolkata. CSK will begin their campaign against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) at home the following evening.
