Highest Partnership in IPL

The highest partnerships in the shortest format of cricket are rarely seen. The IPL, however, is the stage where cricket fans can witness everything, including rare feats in the game. For example, we’ve seen the longest partnership in Test cricket between Sri Lankan players Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, who added 624 runs for the 3rd wicket against South Africa in 2006 at Colombo. However, in T20 cricket, such partnerships are very rare.
Highest Partnership in IPL History
The highest partnership in the IPL was formed in 2016 between Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers for RCB against Gujarat Lions in Bengaluru. They added 229 runs for the 2nd wicket, and this record has remained unbroken for 9 years. Interestingly, these players also held the second-highest partnership in IPL 2015 against their closest rivals, the Mumbai Indians, at Wankhede, Mumbai. Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan recently set a new record for the highest partnership in IPL 2024. This record by Gill and Sudarshan is also the highest opening partnership in IPL.
